We have some at our water plant on the discharge side of pumps; up to 36 inch in size and slightly different shape but same basic design....cone valve. Not sure what this was used for though.

Definitely a valve stem. 90% rotation from shut to full open...but as for application, I am stumped-possibly to an old keg or tank-similar to the more modern pet cocks.

leddel - I was hoping it was for a wooden keg but with the
"threads" i had my doubts

davesx - I like yours better than mine :o
Did you ever get a solid ID on it ??

BTW....I forgot to mention it's 3 1/4 inch long and 11/16 at the
widest part
