Hello

Found this token yesterday. It says Gold Seal Rye Trade Mark on the front and Gold Seal Rye Whiskey on the back with purity guaranteed on the back. From what I can find out it probably dates from 1900-1920s. I think the stuff was made by Hellman Distilling out of St. Louis Mo.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here is a link that has the wording as on your token.

I was unable to open the Google site.

Do a Google search under: gold seal rye whiskey.

You will find the link on the second page.

Good Luck!

Thanks. I really can't find any more info. Regardless I think the token is pretty old and I am going to protect it. Anyone know what to put on it to preserve it?

I would leave it as-is. It'll be fine. The link above said "rare" after the inscriptions... which could mean anything when it comes to tokens. All depends on demand. So I think I'd leave it alone--it already looks pretty good, and you don't wanna use a harsh cleaner on it. Might wanna let it soak in distilled water for a week and pat it dry. That'll remove any fertilizers and some minerals, etc. What you need to do is find a token collector from the area where that whiskey was produced. They'll have more information for you--and if there's a demand for a token like yours, they'll be able to tell you.
