I was metal detecting in Long island sound when i found this rock in my scoop.I have never seen a rock like this before so i put it in my bag.After looking online it seems i found a palm protector used when making fires.Im not sure if it is an indian palm protector,but i do know it fits in my hand like a glove and even has dimples where my finger tips fit into.Im hoping people in this forum with alot more experience with Indian artifacts then i have can comment on this find....Thanks

Funny you say that everytime i rub my fingers inside it my finger turns red.Plus all the palm pertectors i seen online have smaller holes.Thanks for the info
