Smelters are stuffed and back logged. A Buyer coming on line has a commitment due in the end of February. They need 300 million ounces only 130 million available. Smelters our out 60 days .. Meaning you turn your scrap in today you get the price in 60 days up or down.. Risky yes but I know dealers who are crying they lost a lot of money. They are looking for bars .999 then they in many cases need to get them to the Comex for the big dollar. Comex only excepts .9999 4-9 bars so the .999 must be refined once again it they want a higher price. Sterling is a dog right now no room at smelters they will buy but at a reduced rate.. Coin 90% is being played with at reduced rates.... Now.... many parts of the country have more customers looking for silver at their coin shops..... SHOP AROUND... Now, if your buying be carful so many fake coins including American Eagles Coins.. BE CARFUL !! I was offered not 1, not 2 but 200 ounces of gold bars. Wrapped in plastic, looks great like the real thing but all fake. I know the rookie would get taken ;;; A dealer near me bought fake mercuries and barber dimes.... I still can't believe it but he did.... I always knew my 5 ounce large quarter coin that I won at a detector hunt was questionable it did not have .999 anywhere on the coin... IT looked great. Fake, all copper under silver plating. All silver needs to be marked .999 or sterling .925... Be carful, fakes being sold on E bay of everything. Selling shop for the best price....You Tube has great info on fake American Eagles with pictures. IF Buying BE XTRA CARFUL If SELLING SHOP AROUND .... I hope this helps someone ... BTW pallets of silver bars being direct shipped to INDIA....
