High praise and treats! Find the treat they like the best! Cheese,pizza crust,whatever. Use small pieces. Once they do whats asked or does a positive action...sits in their own,signals to go potty ect....reward quickly and get excited and praise them! You'll want a pouch for the treats and be quick to reward!
Training your dog is incredibly rewarding! It can be frustrating and you may feel like you're accomplishing nothing! Just relax, make it fun,and be consistent! Dogs like routine and the Training will take!
Try and do 15min of active training a day. Then though the day and night pick a command...sit,stay,ect. Then randomly ask your dog to preform the command and reward. Once they got that down then move to the next command, but still add the old command so it sinks in.
You want their focus. So eye contact is huge! When training if they aren't giving eye contact. Let them see a treat and hold it up by your eyes...off to the side of your head.
Just be patient and kind! You want your dog to trust you!
Also play with their ears and lips/teeth and nails! Makes vet visits and grooming much easier!
Socializing them with other dogs,cats,people, and environments makes life with your new friend much more fun!
I got a few dogs. 2 are highly trained. They are both my ex partners who i trust more than any human.
