Anybody Here Ever Use the Excelerator 6" DD On An Explorer?

I'm getting the Excelerator 6" DD with my XS and was wondering if it works well the Explorer.

I've got the 5". It works well in really trashy areas.

The guy said the 6" but maybe it's really a 5"?

I haven't recieved it yet.

I would guess it should work well in very trashy areas where the coins/rings are shallow.

I'm actually considering the 6" DD for my DFX. I'd love to hear some opinions on it from users.

Badger - I'm not sure if it's the same animal but I had the Excelerator 5"x7" or something like that. I bought it based on a couple people saying you could run it hotter than the Minelab 7.5". They also claimed it did better in mineralized soil, got better depth, yaddah, yahdah, yahdah... After many tests (coin garden, fabricated and in the field) my opinion was that it did not perform any better than my 7.5" coil. It did nothing that my 7.5" couldn't do. So I sold it.

This is the round version Bob and I believe it is a 6" DD.

I bought this entire rig from the moderator of the DFX forum so I'd guess he'd know the coil size.

You still like the Minelabs like you used to?

Don't you miss the Tejon? ;D

I still like the Minelabs except when my son finds the silver(with his DFX) and I don't. :nono: And that has been happening too much lately.

The Tejon was a quick fling - I hardly remember the details of the affair. :D ;D

Oh no! Maybe TNet will go back to being a Whites site again! ;D

Back 5 years ago or so if you weren't Whites (referring to the brand) you were worse than a guy using a Chinese unit. >:(

We hear very little about any of the Whites here these days.

I've posted this many times but I still think that MXT with 12 inch coil is one of the best machines made today. My main reason for this view is a very very good buddy on the Nautilus Team secretly favors the MXT. That guy digs stuff that beats out almost everyone here. He finds more on a bad day than I do in my best good year.

Yepper, it's sad alright :'(

The Mirage just didn't dig the Tejon.

Oh well, enough GLOOM for one day! ;D

Badger,

I got an Excelerator 5" coil from Kellyco. I used it with my Explorer II for two months and was not impressed. After two months it started acting up on me, falsing all over the place. Something inside must have come loose. Now I don't know what to do with it. Can't use it anymore. So, I called Sunray and got one of their 5" coils. Had one before, but it at least lasted two years before it went bad. I'll see how it goes this time.
