My buddy was remodeling his house and found these jugs under it. His house is over 100 years old, with the corners supported by large field stones. I offered him $100 for the three, and he gladly accepted. I've seen examples of the white and brown jugs on the internet, but some have them listed as whiskey jugs and others as syrup jugs. Does anybody know for sure what they were used for? I haven't seen another jug like the dark brown one and would appreciate any info a member has on it also. thanks

Nice collection of crockery! and there is no 'maker mark' on them, not the bottom either? I don have a few small brown jugs in my stash--I figured they held anything wet!!

That sounds about right to me. That brown one I think early to mid 1800's and is a nice hand thrown piece. nice keepers!
