Anyone familiar with WW2 explosives parts?

This object is an eyeball find from an old battlefield of the 2nd World War.
I thinks it's a mortar part or some other part of an explosive device or bomb. I posted it on a WW2 site, too but it has not been identified yet. Could be something different eitherway...



It must be brass, looks that way, it's not magnetic, it's heavy, it's deformed maybe from a blast, 2,8cm long, diametre 2,1cm, no markings visible.
Please help ID.

Because it is damaged and missing any internal parts, specific ID is difficult. Because of that, and you saying it's from a WW2 battlefield and you think it's from an explosive munition, all I can say is it RESEMBLES a base-fuze from an armor-piercing artillery shell.
