haven't seen anything around here yet, not even the new pennies.

Got a roll of the first Territory quarter yesterday and though I didn't pay much attention I do believe it was the DC one.

Also, concerning pennies I was told at the bank at the same time that I got the roll of quarters that the federal reserve bank in the district I am in (Minneapolis) has to use up all the pennies they have before the new ones will get shipped there and they had a large backlog so I may not be able to get all the full rolls of 2009 pennies for quite some time....if at all this year... Grrrr!!!!!!!!

Apparently the penny info was given to the teller by someone else who was asking and then had waited patiently on the phone and talked directly with someone from the Federal Reserve.

So I may have no choice but to order from the mint.....we'll see..

That is the same thing I am getting told here in NY about the pennies. They want to clean-up the back stock of pennies before releasing the new pennies. I have a question to ask, If there is such a back log of all of these pennies why is there a ban on melting pennies? Just a thought...

The bcklog of pennies will NEVER be used up. Because as pennies go out they also come back IN. Just like any other coin. The supply ebbs and flows, but decreases very slowly. Maybe pennies more than others, since so many people throw them out now or drop them on the ground, but still.

If they wait, you are right. they may not come out at all this YEAR.

But others have found them, so they ARE out. I guess it depends on where you are at. And I think they WILL release them.

I'd like to find a box and be able to sel them on ebay like Tim down there in TX! :-)
