I collect indian artifacts and found this mystery piece last winter in a creek in central ohio.It is approximately 5 1/2 inches in diameter and 5 inches thick. It is very dense and weighs a little over ten pounds. It is very symmetrical and has a central ridge that goes around the whole piece(from casting??)I dont know the material.I have done a hardness test and it is harder than a 16 penny nail,I also took a swing at it with a framing hammer and it barely chipped the surface.I dont believe it is hollow and there is no plug that would be found on explosive cannonballs. My guess is that it is a cannonball, but that is only a guess.I have ruled out it being a geo.So what is it
I appreciate any help on this piece. Thanks in advance.Greg
