🔎 UNIDENTIFIED anyone have any ideas what this is ? A mappers tool or tripod? Or something else?

It's 17 inches long and 3 inches wide and is made of copper
 

One of these has been on here before so hopefully someone remembers what it was Identified as.

At first it did remind me of a stabilizing bracket for a surveying tripod, but not sure.

Yes... Clonloum123 posted it in August, and again in October, but didn't get much in the way of suggestions about what it might be. Nothing much I can offer either.

Copper or brass? An equilateral triangle is a useful tool in drafting, surveying and masonry construction. The corners make me think it could be part of a light fixture or lantern as well. Interesting find!

Maybe a little history on the area where it was found would help

the pics won't enlarge but it appears cast so I doubt it's copper. brass or plated is my guess
