Can anyone tell me about this piece I found? Found in south central ky...I know it is an Indian tool, do not know if Paleo or etc ...any comments would be helpful
Looks like a natural piece of stone that someone recently used as a hammer. Those peck marks on one edge are fresh. That’s the wrong kind of rock for an axe or hammer stone. That’s sedimentary rock. Hardstone tools are made of igneous rocks. Also, paleo Indians didn’t use hardstone tools other than hammer stones.
Obviously it's a screwdriver. Early Phillips head culture from the looks of it. Probably used more than 16,000 years ago to adjust hammock tension and children's attitudes.
