Anyone know a good home silver test?

Photo? It's pretty simple to visually ID silver, unlike gold in my experience.

Ifn you don't trust your eyes, get an acid test kit. Around $20 or just get the silver test solution & stone. So small & cheap you can carry it with you in your hunting gear for when you can't wait to get home to see.

Pick up a PuriTEST on Ebay. They are cheap. Scratch test it on the stone, drop a little acid from the kit on the marking and you'll know what you've got.
Dark gray usually indicates silver in my experience. Drop it on a granite counter top. If it rings or sings it's silver:happysmiley:

All cleaned up its silver the marking must have worn off has perfect color ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1490149341.787444.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1490149369.792526.webp

Looks like silver to me! Congrats!

Thats cool, yep silver. Also I have the same pj bottoms lol.

Despicable ME LOL

Do you have a neodymium magnet (the stronger the better)? You can feel the dielectric property of silver with one.

Silver alright, congrats it's a nice one!

Did it smell like hard boiled eggs when you did the electrolysis? if it did I would say it is AG

I'll say this about what you need to do.

I found 13 pieces of silver jewelry last season. Two weren't marked. The home test is quick, and use 18k gold test on a scratching and it will turn very very pretty blue as a result. If it doesn't, then it is very nice junk. If you're paranoid, test another scratching with 10k gold test. If the scratching does not dissolve, then maybe it is white gold - they do look different physically to your eyes, silver out of the ground tend to look more whitish. Gold kinda likes it's looks of precious.

If you pass the 10k, do a 14k, etc. Gold really is marked normally, so preferably we like to see a marking.

That's just about the basics.

Thats silver, but no beach hunter should be without the cheap acid and diamond tester. If you dig as much as most of us do you learn pretty quick what silver is...... plus its a soft metal that scratches easily with a knife. Thiere is a metal buoyancy test as well......dental floss, water, glass and scale

Yellow mustard, Google it.

Spit and foil test is about as easy as it gets. Spit into foil. Wrap object. Wait a moment and unwrap and sniff. If there is a horrible stink you got silver. Had read this previously on t-ent and tried it.
