was at a garage sale today and he had this collection of well over 500 matchbook covers, to bad all matches are removed, but all the old advertising made them very cool to me, not sure if they are worth anything or not, but I bought em ;D The guy said his grandpa traveled all over united states and collected these everywhere he went. Would make a cool wall hanging if I had anywhere to put them :tongue3:

if anyone has any info on them, let me know, or if anyone wants to buy any at all let me know too

Yes, they are collectors. One of them is in Ohio.
As far as I know they're not members here.

Would be more valuable if the matches were intact.I had a collection from mainly the 40's,all the trains,Fred Harvey's,etc.I gave them to my son(Lance) since his older brother had the coin collection. He took them with him when he went in service. He got to England and threw them away!He also started buying monopoly games from all the different countries he went to but they are scattered in his storage items somewhere???? I'm down to collecting garters now-for myself!

i read someplace, if the striker is on the front, not back of book, that gives
it more value, and if its a whole book, no missing matches, even more value.
i think your covers, would be worth something, as is, to the right collector
just because they are old.

found this may help you

thanks for the help!

I've got about 75 books of Detroit Red Wing's 1974 schedule book matches/ strike on the front cover, brand new, no matches missing, they gotta be worth a pretty penny.....NGE
