ANYTHING GEMS IN LOWER MICHIGAN?????

I live in Michigan...well lower Michigan Oakland county to be exact. Well I have always loved gems and wanted to know if I could hunt for some gems and if someone could give me info on how where and what to look for. thanks.

P.S. only in my area I cant travel much.

You could look for some Petoskey Stone. Fossilized coral usually found on the shores of lake michigan and lake huron.

Diamonds have been found in Michigan's upper peninsula but I'm not sure exactly where.

I live in Pontiac although I do most of my Rock in the UP I have found old rock dumps are excellent for finding quartz, smoky quartz & even Petoskey stones! Also Pontiac Lake state park on Williams lake road on some of the trails you will find old rock dumps! Im not sure if your new to Rock Hounding but I have several books also!
