Apache Hidden treasure?

For those living in Arizona and the border areas, there may be undiscovered hidden treasure. I myself, living in New jersey, am too far away to even entertain the idea of searching those areas. Okay, in my youth, I read a book called, "In The Days of Victorio", written by the granddaughter of the last Apache holdouts. Well, in the book, which is very interesting, she mentions some of their ambushes of treasure laden pack trains, which they did for guns and ammo and hid the silver bars because they had no use for them, but didn't want some warriors to be tempted to exchange them for alcohol drink. I'm not sure if they seized gold too, I don't have the book anymore. However, One Apache Grandfather wondered why the "white eyes" go crazy for gold, and he knows spots where you could pick it up off the ground like kernels of corn, but he leaves it because of superstition or no need for it. So I always remembered that book and the treasure information even though there's no chance I can search and some areas are in Mexico , as they went back and forth to avoid US Soldiers. "Sometimes a mans life depends on a mere scrap of information" quoted from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly classic movie, I think.

It may be online or in your local library even. I always remembered that book because of the treasure that was mentioned in it. There's other historical information in there also, like that Apache tribe who lived atop a mesa that had water and game enough to live cut off from everyone, plus they rigged the trail up to it to landslide when triggered. Ah the days before airplanes, when such places were truly hidden.

sorry for the late reply. i did find the book on amazon, actually there is 2 or 3 books with the same name and seem to be alittle different. would you please take a look on amazon and see if you can remember which cover is the one that matches

I just finished the book. It's very informative regarding the ways of the Warm Springs Apache. Only one reference to buried silver that I remember. Overall an extremely good read especially how we treated them.

I thought their were a few references of them ambushing Mexican mule trains carrying silver, taking the guns and ammo and hiding the silver. And once reference of Nana, I think,saying how he knows where to find gold that's just sitting on the ground like kernels of corn, but he won't take any due to superstition and doesn't understand the fascination we have with it. Well, I only read it as a kid, sorry if I used poetic license and embellished a memory. I'm a fisherman to, so take what I say with a grain of gold or salt.
Yeah, shipping them off to Florida, were they are not used to the humidity and the mosquito's was probably on purpose. They seemed like a warrior tribal people who lived on the edge constantly, with great survival skills, but outnumbered and uncivilized, thus succumbing to those with millennials of civilization and knowledge and power, they are better absorbed into our cultural consciousness and their good attributes touted and their bad discarded. If you can't beat them, join them, or open a casino and get your revenge that way.
