I'm assuming that piece on top swivels or just lays over, to cover the 4 compartments? Would keep spices from blowing away. Search "antique South Indian wooden spice boxes" or "Old teak spice boxes" See if the image search will show you something very similar. oops, sorry, here's pics that led me to think, spice box....
