Applied iron ore to stones?

Happy weekend all,
This has been puzzling me for over a year. Examples of rocks with metallic type iron ore applied to surface of rocks.
Some appear to be to applied to enhance images.
One example clearly etched like a petroglyph but ore added to create a raised petroglyph image.
I know not very likely.
So if anyone has any info. Please share.

Rocks found fields where they disc and plow will leave a trace of iron on the stones which later will form brown streaks with age. I’ve found it on quartzite stones.

You are correct Creekside, however these shown don't really appear to be equipment strikes. At least none of the countless ones I've seen. The one looks like it had been against something that eventually mineralized and left the rusty encrustation. The other, I have no idea. Neither looks to me like they are anything except something that happened naturally.
