My hubby and I are lookin to try some gold hunting in Appomattox area of Va Were new to this Does anyone have any helpful info.Tryin to find some old mines in the area.How can we get started

Actually, I'd go to and check the "Local" section of your nearest library!
For the history of mining in the State!
Or!
There might even be, should be, a Mining Department within the State Govt!
As there is out in the western states!
There was a project, funded by the U.S. Govt, just recently, to find and list all open mines!
There should be a list of them, with the actual Locations of the mines, within your State Govt!
