Are fossils worth anything?

It depends on the fossil. Some sell for less than a dollar, some for millions. Depends on rarity and demand. I was at a rock & mineral show this weekend, and common, invertebrate fossils in average condition were going from 50 cents to around $5. Nice specimens for $10-40. I did see some mammoth tusks pieces going from $100-500. Many "show" specimens weren't for sale, so it's anyone's guess what they would sell for if for sale.

One good source to check prices is Ebay. You'll get a good idea what price a particular type of fossil can bring.
