Never done any CRH but I might try it. I do quite a bit of backwoods traveling and know of a few one teller type banks. Are these better than new, big, downtown banks or is there no difference?

Are the banks required to have x # of halfs on hand or how do they replenish their "stock"?

I have found that it could go either way. If you find an older, out of the way bank that doesn't have a CRH'er in the area, you might get lucky. However, if that town has a CRH'er in the area, it might serve as his or her dump bank and you won't find squat there. The only way to find out is to go to those banks and take a sample from each one and see your results.

its hit and miss either way, I have made good scores at small town banks, but I have also made good scores in banks across the street from me.
The best scores are when you catch a deposit the same day as one is made or if you have a relationship with the tellers to save you things. Otherwise they give it out to who ever asks. And just because someone else noticed silver in there tray or order coins, does not necessarily mean they are a full time Coin roll hunter, A lot of people know there are silver coins out there and just happen to be lucky enough to end up catching a deposit.

The Wal Mart Equation

Some members don't realize what a hot bed of banking you live in. In the greater NW Arkansas area, there are no less than 3050 banks. My experiences silver hunting in your backyard have been good. My advice is to stay away from the larger chains and concentrate on the smaller town(off the Interstate) banks. I found quite a few dump banks, so I know you are not alone up there but persistence pays off. I was offered box after box of BU 96s. I have transported my last box of those back home. Good Luck and happy CRHing, Jim

My advice is to hit them all before some else does. You never know, I've found good stuff in small banks as well as large ones.

Yesterday I hit 7 banks. The top three had $160, $110 and $90 respectively. The first had no keepers, yet almost every one of the coins looked brand new, regardless of year.
The second gave me 7 rolls that were marked "CH" and 4 unmarked rolls. The unmarked rolls gave me 7 40%. So, just because it was someone's dump, doesn't mean that's all you will get there.
The third gave me one 40% and one 90%.
The other 4 banks only had between 50 cents and $10 w/no keepers.
