The question is in the title. So far, I have found the following tnet posts about finding gold coins while coin roll hunting:

- http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/coin-roll-hunting/92163-gold-baby-no-joke.html
- http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/today-s-finds/63227-found-10-gold-first.html

All of these are 10+ years old. Are there any more recent stories about finding gold while coin roll hunting? I'm wondering if it's still out there. Let me know, thanks!

I’ve found gold 4 times in the last 5 years. I believe last one was last year - 1/4oz Canadian $10 proof.

Most of us can barely find silver and this guy wants to look for gold! 🤪

I think I remember reading a post within the last 5-6 months of someone finding a gold religious token (catholic origin maybe?) from the reject bin of a coin machine while dumping

There was someone who had an epic box of dimes with a ton of silver, clear plastic rolls, that also contained a gold coin.

I think it was around 2013 or 2014?

I'm not totally sure on when or who.

That was me! Here's the thread:

This past weekend I actually went and traded that very 5.65g 18k token + the ~1.5g 10k ring I also found a few years ago for 13.5 ounces of .999 silver. With the gold/silver ratio so high, it was a great time to make a trade!

7oz. Buffalo Bullion Derringer + a few Atlantis mint 1ozers (stock pics below)

I did. In January 2016, I found a $10 face, 1/4oz gold coin from 1997 in the TD Bank machine; about 3-4 months before they shut them all down. It was located in the return chute (which if you were able to get your hand in there you could pull out all the coins that didn't make it into the reject tray). This coin was in a jewelry bezel. When I found it I thought it was a replica or something until I got the bezel off when I went to my car.

I will post a pic later.

I miss those machines - they really added to my collection - lots of silver + the multitude of coins attached to the magnet where you put the coins in.

This is the pic of the 1/4oz gold that I mentioned in my prior post

I found the gold-plated Westward journey nickel set in 2 bags last summer, gotta be good for partial credit?

I never found gold CRH - a coin dealer I know did find 6 gold British sovereigns in the reject chute of a TD Penny arcade a few years back. What I did find was a "two-fer" of the Canadian Centennial specimen set with the $20 Canadian Gold piece at auction - it was a sleeper since I bought two for the price of around half the price a single set at melt.

Does gold rings found in the internal trash bins count, put me down for two.

Its always the other guy
