Out in the mining district east of Leadville today. First pic is Emmet shaft-1. In 1917 two miners were being lowered down the shaft when the cable to the cage broke, dropping them all the way to the bottom and killing both.

Rginn, thanks for sharing !!! Dug lots of bottles in Leadville back in the day. I am familiar with all your pics . I hear its been getting cold up there !!!

Well Charlie, we haven't really had a killing frost yet cause a lot of my flowers are still hangin on. Gettin snow on top though. Gets down around freezing some nights, frost on the windshield. Chilli in the past we could detect out there. Just head east out of Leadville on 6th street and wherever you wanted to look. These days they have a sign up prohibiting any prospecting or collecting, etc. Lots more 'keep out' signs. Years ago I could walk up to any of the places out there and look them over, try to detect around there, not these days. You can walk right up to the Emmet shaft though. I suppose that all came about because of owners concerns about liability and there are some active operations going on out there now.

One of the coolest things in Leadville is the old cemetery. Love staying at the old hotel!

We have got down to 28 a couple times already. Most of the flowers and Aspen leaves are gone. 1 fairly heavy frost so far. Winter is headed for us ❄☺
