Arrow head????

Hello All,
Found this while looking for agates. This was found in the desert close to Barstow. There are early man sites located not too far away. Thanks in advance for any help you an offer.

Like an overgrown creek bed 20 yards from my house and large rocks that are not found in my state. So I did historical research of my property as far back as I could find and came up empty handed. Never been logged, never been a dump site, never been farmed.

So I decided to do some metal detecting with my son and the first hit we got was a piece of magnetite about 6" down. Five months ago I didn't know much about stone tools, flakes, or anything. But, finding that magnetite, I uncovered a mix of the strangest stuff I've ever saw. The range I'm finding is a few inches to a couple feet deep and you'll hit ocean floor. It's one big cemented sandstone pad of ocean floor. Which is why nothing has sank below this line. I just figured that out yesterday.

Oh, my fault. Given that it's almost 4 inches.... In picture #3, from left to right you see an incline on the top portion of the blade which my guess is that it was attached to a stick. So, possibly halved. Being as thin as it gets towards the end I wouldn't think it would be a hand axe which was my second guess, as there were stronger materials available for hand axe use. I believe you have found a spear point, but again dude.... Photos make everything look incredibly different.

Well you are correct there, some photo's make things look incredibly different.

So what make this look like a spear point now from the same pictures?

PLEASE, Don't tell me the length does it for you.

Not to beat a dead horse but I was doing some research and stumbled across these images that have similarities to the rock we found. Would greatly appreciate everyone's thoughts and analysis. Thanks Chris

those sorts of hand axes have been made on every continent by every group for over a million years, starting in Africa with Homo Habilis I do believe. Without context they would be impossible to date or attribute.
