Found in corner of old farm field here in MASS.,thinking made of brass, is it some kinda of arrow tip?

Quite possibly,cellar hole a few hundred feet away and hadnt thought of it being a finial.

Only a guess. What about a cleaning jag for a rifle that would screw into a rod.

Went through all of mine and found two different examples that are both around 2 inches long.....

I think the answer lies in how they're grooved.....

Hoping someone knows what it is also.
