artifact looks like a shoe

Any ideas of what this could be? It was found at an indian camp.alongside other stone artifacts.

What is the diameter of the hole? Are there any tunnels in your imediate area ? Could be the bottom of a drill hole.
Just letting the old mind run wild....................HH
