Relic Hunting
I dug these artillery artifacts near Jeffersonton Virginia, in an organized relic hunt called Diggin' In Virginia. Over a three day period, I dug Yankee case shot, Hotchkiss and misc. fragments, Confederate case shot, and underplugs to a 12 lb. shell. These are my first artillery relics.

But first, here is where I was digging at.

This is the hill where I dug 90% of my relics.

The Yankee's were on the opposing hill, firing their artillery into the hill I was standing on, and farther behind me. Yankee cavalry and infantry took potshots from across the Rappahannock river as well.

I'm guessing this was the March, 2019 three day hunt?

Yes it was! Best three darn days I ever had, was at DIV XL (Last March) and DIV XLIV (This March)

Crazy cool. Well done

Thanks to TheCannonBallGuy, These round things are now identified as pusher plates for a Hotchkiss shell.

Well Done on the CW artillery artifacts Rusty. Beautiful pic's. I know you had a Blast from the Past and returned home with some great pieces of Saved History. Virginia, or Ole' Virginni is a beautiful state. Gorgeous scenery.

Nice finds, I was there also! It was a great three days for sure:icon_thumleft:

Yes sir, it was awesome! I would have met more of you guys if I wasn't hacking my way through briar patches, or gallivanting in distant fields...

Congrats! That's a dream hunting area!

I miss Virginia so much...I truly am homesick for it...

The Blue Ridge mountains are my home, and I can't wait to go back.
