I don’t know much about the subject at all but if I were to guess I would say training round.

Fairly sure it’s a M72 LAW (Light Anti-Tank) round. Be careful with it, it might not be a practice round! I’ve fired a half dozen and I seem to remember they passed around a practice rocket like that during training.

Weird, I just had my M72A3 out yesterday and took pictures of it. To the OP as stated be careful it could be a live round.......

OK, I've been looking at this off and on for a few hours. What's weird is if you look at M72 LAW rockets of this style, the fins are attached to the nozzle. Plus there isn't a band at the nozzle end above the fins. Whereas this one has a band, and the fins seem attached at a higher point and appears to lack a nozzle.

So I'm wondering if it might be M6A1 60mm anti tank rocket. Which would make it a Bazooka fired projectile.

I'm convinced it's a Bazooka rocket AKA M6A1/M7A1 versus a rocket from a M72A(?) LAW.

The 1st picture is of a M6A1 live projectile, the 2nd picture is of a M7A1 practice/training projectile version of the M6A1. Notice not easy to tell the difference between the live and practice/training round....

My first thought was 2.36" Bazooka (M6A1) rocket as well.

That’s some major accomplishment indeed..Sometimes the fighter jets will take off from Stewart and make several fly overs here and the sound they produce is incredible..Perhaps try calling the local authorities and have someone look at it

I was taught that after you fired the LAWS rocket (LAWS Light Anti-Armor Weapons System) you bashed the tube over a rock or tree so that if the VC got their hand on it they couldn’t reuse it.

Wow yeah after seeing all the pics it def seems to be the bazooka rocket ... I guess my next step is to contact someone to make sure it’s not live

That is what we were taught, too. I never fired one, though.

If I remember, the business end was painted blue, at least that was what it looked like when I trained it went flop out the tube! Don't remember to much I was to busy eating dirt.

Be VERY discreet with contacting the authorities. Especially in today's world. Years ago I knew a SCUBA diver who brought up a small WWII era practice bomb from the Molokini Reef off Maui. His roommates convinced him to get rid of it so he picked up the phone and called the cops and said something like "Hey, I have this old bomb I brought up from one of my dives..." Within 10 minutes the place was surrounded by emergency vehicles and the neighbors were being evacuated from the block.

Choose your words carefully.

Howcome nobody in 16 replies to the first post has asked Andrews1 (the rocket's finder) the first question I always ask in response to a relic-ID request? (Could you please provide very-exact size measurements of the object, preferably made with a Digital Caliper?) The exact diameter of the rocket's head, and exact length of the entire rocket, will exclude some possible identifications and perhaps confirm one.

Uh... Ummm.. Yeah... Uh... We were waiting for the resident expert. Yeah. That's it. That's the reason...

This is a m2 bazooka round. It looks like a practice one I had a while ago, but I don't really know much about bazooka rounds.
