They pretty much know what battery fired it & when it was fired. It came from a Confederate battery on Confederate Avenue. Hoods division.

This shell very well may have come from one of Porter Alexander's (Georgia) guns. One Loud Rebel Yell! I'd be willing to bet that this shell was "Whistling Dixie" when fired at Little Round Top.
