AT Max - Deeper coil? Nel Storm? Thunder? Or other?

I have posted this in the Brands forum and have had no response. Hope to find someone out there with some advice.
I have been at it for about a year now and use a Garrett AT MAX. I have had good luck with it thus far, obviously it could always be better. I've primarily used the stock coil, and at times the Garrett 5x8. So here's my dilemma, I have a couple permissions, each with both civil war and colonial history. They have been hunted by others in the past and my finds have been limited. My new plan for success on these properties is to go deeper than the others have gone. One properties is trashy with a lot of deep steel, shotgun shell heads etc., the other is not, both consist of open field and wooded areas.
I have read reviews on Nel, CORS, etc., all of which state I can get a fee more inches. I've read posts that review each as well. I think I've narrowed it down to Nel but what I would like to see is a comparison of the Storm vs Thunder and more importantly has anyone used both and can recommend one over the other.....And why? Thanks for any guidance/recommendations.

I've been using the AT Pro since 2006. Only recently (last year) I bought a NEL coil, and I chose the Thunder.

The Thunder definitely goes deeper than the standard coil. No doubt. But the shape of it (very long, top to bottom) makes it difficult to pinpoint things. So you'll spend a little more time digging stuff out of your sidewall, which over lots of targets translates to lots more time. Eventually I learned to dig slightly before (toward me) where I pinpointed, but it also misses stuff side-to-side too,

I wanted the Storm. If I could go back in time? First I would kill Hitler (wouldn't everyone) and then I would buy the Storm.

It's not that the Thunder hasn't produced great things for me - it has. But I suspect the Storm might be sleeker and faster for what I wanted, with (just about) as much depth.

There's my 2-cent piece!

P.S. - Brad from the Hoover Boys uses the Thunder. He's on this forum, seek him out and maybe ask him his opinion?

I've got the Storm for my AT PRO and it get toe heavy after a few hours. But if you're finding stuff it's not that bad. With the right setting, it's pretty darn deep. I have mild mineralization and with a little rain it's really beep. I run no disc.,I do notch pull tabs, pennies, and I know im missing some stuff but I'm hunting mostly larger silver. I do at times run the disc. up to 40. Just depends on the day. One more thing, the Storm separates well for a big coil. Hope that helps.
