Hey guys,
I was curious as to whether or not the ATP's issues such as the falsing I heard about, some unstable signals, and other things of that nature had been resolved? For the first month or so after they came out, I studied long and hard on the decision to buy one or to stay away from it. It seemed to be too risky at the time, so I just kinda stayed away from it. Just recently I have started wondering if the problems I had previously seen were cleared up....I would like to buy one... I just dont want to get something that is jampacked with issues and will be problematic. Can anyone shed an light on this for me?
Do you guys who have used the ATP in water, like the Garrett waterproof headphones? I would definately want those...
Also, what sort of issues are people having with the new adapters? if any at all...

Thanks.
Gabe.

It should not have any issues if the dealer isn't selling old stock. Garrett corrected the issue(s) by mid-March if not early March. I think the starting serial # for the more reliable ones is posted on here somewhere or ask Garrett. Very good customer service from Garrett if you should ever need it.

My dealer asked if I wanted the one he had in stock from a few months ago or one from the new stock arriving soon. I chose a newer one. I also got adapter for headphones so I can be cooler using earbuds instead of earmuffs. Haven't tested it yet but my dealer did to make sure speaker muted with phones in.

I only detect on land but am amazed after few hours use I get a 4" deep tilted quarter & a 7" deep dime, both with good IDs, in a park searched hundreds of times & it is rather bad dirt. I used standard mode with high disc & did the manual ground balance. Dug essentially no trash & got $1.55.

It has virtually eliminated my need to think & so relaxing. It is one of the very best for correct stable IDs at depth in my pretty bad ground. The ID only jumped 80-85 on the 7" deep dime, the correct range for copper cent or dime.

The standard mode requires virtually no learning & with the disc turned up I just thought about how quiet & stable it is at sens 7 of 8. HH, George (MN)

I have no issues now with the ATP. It should definitely have the waterproof headphone if used in the water. The adapter is not waterproof and changing headphones with the present setup is a bear, so do it only once and forget it. It is still able to false from different cell phones and EM fields but you can change frequencies.

If it has a fault it is because I tend to waste time looking at the display instead of just using the scoop. :laughing7:

Some issues not addressed are the falsing and unstable signals and other things of similar nature. That is for the metal detectorist to address. It's a metal detecting phenomena, not a machine specific phenomena. What is a false signal? What is an unstable signal? What are things of similar nature? What is metal detecting? The pro was built to handle these phenomena, as best as anyone can at this time.
It's a beast.

SM, I have some black spray paint if you need it for your screen..... :laughing7:

For me, False signals are Real signals that are produced by external effects such as ground mineralisation, Lightning and other EMI. Whereas a signal caused by detector Instability is being caused by problems within the detector electronics such as poor design, faulty coils, Faulty CCT, inability to ground balance (common problem with Fixed GB detectors) and using a detector in conditions it was not designed for.

They fixed it. Mine had a problem with pp. Got a new one and it's good. I mean GOOD. But, I must admit, I prefer the cz in critical missions because I got about 18 plus seasons on it and I know it. But the pro never ceases to surprise me even in my hammered grounds.

Give me a call if you have any question. Love to answer them for you. Bart

The Std mode George mentions is very similar to the Ace 250. It was immensely helpful in learning the Pro mode; when I got overwhelmed with all the info the pro mode was giving, I could fall back on the Std mode to relax a while. Now that I've had it a few months I'll never go back to std mode, but it was there when I needed it.

I have used Duct tape in the past to "dumb down" new shiny detectors so they look more like a POS so anyone looking at it wouldn't think it was worth hocking. :laughing7:

the digital readout varies as to the amount of moisture in my ground, if it doesn't 2 tone in standard mode dig it.
also I have used pro mode very little but it is very helpful.
I ended up digging a decent ring that in standard I thought was just a penny.
All in all I hate to recommend this machine.
Mostly because I don't want the competition.
