Garrett AT Pro
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Just received my AT Pro yesterday (my first detector. I had cleared my yard of most clad with a borrowed bounty hunter, in a couple of hours I dug several pull tabs a penny and the last hole at dusk a 52 silver dime at 5-6" :)

I set up the AT with the smaller coil from the spring special due to rave reviews on here,, but now I'm wondering if the larger coil would find deeper coins, or if the machine will do it with the 5x8 once I become more skilled at using it?

Thanks!!

The larger coil will get you an inch or two deeper.

The larger coil is deeper but in a trashy area deeper isn't going to matter you will want better separation and the 5x8 coil is great for that. I put on the stock coil when I'm hunting open areas with less targets. The 5x8 is on my pro 90% of the time. I have pulled silver out at 7 inches with the 5x8 and I have a test garden and the 5x8 picks up all the clad coins I have buried their. The deepest coin is a dime at 8 inches and the small coil picks it up fine with a repeatable VDI and high pitched squeak. Good luck.
