prolly not a problem if its working...keep out of the water tho.have several over the years like that and they just kept working.spray it good with a can of truck bed liner

I would imagine it's ok as long as you don't see any copper. You can get a coil cover for it and you'll never know it was there.

Or what bigfoot said. Lol

or you could epoxy or silicone over it for a temp repair

A good ole can of flex seal

at pro both coils, makro racer, and detectnix pinpointer.

If it's the stock coil, go ahead and get the 5x8 DD. You'll like it more anyway, the machine balances better, and you'll have more faith in a new undamaged unit. Keep the stock (with a coil cover) as your land-only, wide-open-space sweeper coil.

sounds good... what is that going to run me... $150?

bout 130.00 for 5x8...you gonna love that coil

excellent coil.

Both coils have a lighter color epoxy type filler on the bottom. If that's what your talking about and are expecting the same black surface as the top of the coil they don't come that way from the factory. Do you have a pic of it?

I'd spray it with that new sealant ---FlexSeal --I think. I have used it and should remember the name haha, but, I think beer gets in the way of memory sometimes.

Elmers makes an epoxy i used it to seal up a oil pan on a d5g cat dozer. Its still sealed and not leaking. I did go over it with jb weld

at pro both coils, makro racer, and detectnix pinpointer.

That baby has lived a pretty hard life but if it's working correctly a new one will work no better. Get yourself some 2 part epoxy and fill the missing parts and cracks, then spray the whole thing with a couple light coats of bed liner or the equivalent and it should be fine.

Bondo doesn't do well under water! A two hour epoxy will do excellent. Don't use the 5 minute epoxy!

im not even gonna mess with it... i ordered a new 5x8 DD coil with a cover this afternoon.
