I would definately upgrade to the 5x8. Once you put it on, it's tough taking it back off.

Agreed. The 5X8 is great for trashy areas and is considerably lighter than the stock coil.

I added the 5x8 and also the Nel Attack15x15.Now I am covered for high trash areas and open fields.

So long as you stay off the wet salt beaches you'll be fine as it is only a single freq. detector and will be unstable at wet salt water sand. That's where the gold rings are.

 

[Metal Detecting Stuff]

The Garrett headphone adapter allows you to use existing headphones. The Garrett 5X8 DD coil or NEL coils are great accessories to have. And the Gray Ghost Amphibians are great waterproof headphones.

I agree also... 5x8 coil.... coil covers... headphone adapter so you can use standard headphones... and perhaps a larger aftermarket coil like some available from NEL.

The Nel bigger coils add greatly, don't know about the headphone adapter. If you use the adapter you can't search with the detector submerged and thus are losing one of the main points of the AT PRO. MI love and swear by the Grey Ghost headphones.
