Whoo hoo. My hundred free auctions kick in today. I've been waiting for these, as I have a lot of stuff I wanted to auction, rather than BIN. My question is, should I list for 7 or 10 days. If I list tonight for 10 days, I get two weekends for people to look. However, do people get annoyed with a 10 day auction? They don't want to wait that long for it close? I have Pandora and Silpada that I wanted to auction. Personally, I am not in a rush to get them sold, so 10 days is fine.

What do y'all do with auctions?

I love bin! That said I am not a fan of 10 day auctions as people don't like to wait that long and unless it's a rare item with a very limited market I don't see any reason to go past three days as most action happens in the last two hours of a auction.

I'm impatient and I usually do BIN in the hope of a quick sell or Best Offer. If I were a patient person...I'd go the 10 day route to et as many eyeballs on the item as possible. But diesel is right, folks don't usually like 10 day auctions...but then, you only need 2 folks who really want it in any of those situations. And 10 days gives you more time to find them.Or rather, vice versa.

I'm actually very unimpressed. I started looking up the things I want to sell. So the Silpada bracelet sold at auction for around $30. BIN, around $60. The gold stuff I was looking up, same thing.
I'm thinking that the auctions are over rated.

When I do auctions, I like the shortest time possible unless it ends on a Friday or Saturday, then I will list with a start date that misses ending on those two days

I totally agree mugsisme..... Auctions are totally over rated... They were nice when I first started selling and got me feedback fast...... If your going to take the time to list something you might as well get the price you want... BIN or Best Offer is the way to go in my option..... Just sit back and wait for your buyer and get your desired price.

I've debated this subject many times and am still at odds. I think it all depends on what you sell, as well as the type of following you have. A friend of mine sells all of their auction items using 10 day auctions. They also start all their auctions at a penny. They do quite well. middlemanbrokers on eBay
