Auto Industry Suppliers?

Got contacted this morning by an auto industry manufacture/supplier wondering if I could be coaxed into coming to work for them. But given the shape of America's auto manufacturers I just don't know. Will they rebound or continue to sink? Will their suppliers survive or die? This is a tough call to make. What do you think?

It never hurts to talk... As far as the company being a supplier, are they making generic parts for cars? You should do a little reading up on the company itself and see what their strengths are. So I would surely talk to them and see what they have to offer you. Remember, you're already employed and in the drivers seat.

I know all the engineers, etc., worked for them (different company) in the past for 13 years. They make assembly line parts for the big three. Right now I'm self employed and I gotta tell ya, there has been a lot of times in recent years when I really missed the simplicity of working for someone else. You just go in, do whatever they want, and go home. But it's the auto industry, the American auto industry, and I'm just not sure how stable it is these days.

My honest opinion, go talk to them.. Look at it this way, they are already selling to the big 3 US manufacturers, I think it is highly unlikely all 3 will go under at the same time. Ford seems to be the strongest, with GM moving back up. Beside, there are also foreign companies and I am sure that this company could manufacture parts for them as well. Again, they are coming to you, so this is a good sign and you're 100% right about doing your own thing. It's nothing but a pain....

I know people that work at Auto Zone distribution and they say that business has nearly tripled since the economy went south, I guess people are fixing their older cars rather than running out and charging a new one.

They went from typical 40 hour weeks to 60+ hour weeks, and the stocks went up really well also.

Our paper said today GM sales are up 5.4 % in July.
