auto light bracket?

This is a brass piece with a chrome plated nut on top. On bottom has two copper posts, looks like something was broken off inside, possibly a light bulb. A mounting post is about 1/4" diameter. Anyone have any idea what this is and what it was used on.

I think its too light of duty for that, and it is brass.

i can see the light bulb idea but the bulb port would need wire access - any signs or wiring?

It does look like a bulb has broken off inside the cup part,you should be able to unscrew it with a pair of vise grips or pliers.

On semi trailers we have replaceable bulbs that have two female fittings that look like the two on the side with the chrome nut.So I do believe it is some type of electrical fitting but it doesn't make sense with the two male fittings on other side unless it chained together with wire harness from behind and not through the post.It is a little baffling.

It does LOOK like the remnants of a light bulb socket stuck in there. Is there a path for wiring to attach to a bulb? A hole through the tube or on the back side of the part?

Vintage motorcycle turn signal?

Many moons ago (When I was young and bulletproof) I owned a bike, and someone had a bad day and went through the bike area of the barracks and broke all the turn signals and headlights. It was a pain trying to find the correct parts for my bike.

It does look like a bulb has broken off inside the cup part,you should be able to unscrew it with a pair of vise grips or pliers.

Sometimes a potato will work for removing broken bulbs from sockets, too!

Vintage motorcycle turn signal?

Many moons ago (When I was young and bulletproof) I owned a bike, and someone had a bad day and went through the bike area of the barracks and broke all the turn signals and headlights. It was a pain trying to find the correct parts for my bike.

That was something I was looking at last night seeing if I found one that matched.

The mounting post is solid brass, with no hole going thru it. There are two terminals or posts on the top and bottom. The chrome end looks like the bulb remains. It may be a motorcycle turn signal, but I can't think of any old bikes with signals.

It looks pretty brittle, so I didn't attempt to remove the nut.

The item looks like an old light fitting. Like a lot of others have said. Not sure how clean the item is but can you tell if there are threads on the back side where the 2 mail nubs are? I remember seeing a light fixture somewhere that had 2 lights attached to a cross member at their backs. They had posts on the bottom as well which were attached to the fenders or bumpers. I also noticed there is a ring around the old bulb that also can be unscrewed. Well most likely since the groves on either side seem made to unscrew it or at least turn. They say never restore or mess with antiques but in this case I think you will have to if you want more answers.
