Is the one on the left. I guess it was the first true arrowhead to appear in Iowa. The one on the right, believe it or not, is a broken point. But is it a Folsom? I don't know. These were found in some of our usual spots, by #3 son yesterday.

Re: Avonlea

Neat points you have there! I'm not sure if it's a Folsom or not, but can you post a pic. of the other side?

Re: Avonlea: Updated

Thanks BA. I will post a picture of the other side. I have to wait for my photographer. Our camera isn't very good. OK, maybe it's me. ::)

Heres those pictures Andy, I know it looks pretty rough.

Nope. It has no signs of flake removal or modification at all.

That piece on the left sure is nice.Where does it fall in age?

One of the first true arrowheads in Iowa, around 1600 years ago. Thanks!

Hey Beanman,

The point on the left is a nice one, but appears to me to be paleo in nature. Cant be certain not collecting from that area, but if found here I would call it late paleo or early archaic. Quite a bit older than 1600 years and very nice. Thanks for sharing.

Shoot, you could be right Atlantis. I'm just going by what I think my Iowa book is showing me. I certainly could be wrong.

Man!!! Those are great finds. Thanks for sharing them

Plebah, That thing on the right, really makes me scratch my head. I don't know what to think about that dumb thing. :-\
