I was detecting in the wooded part of a local park, using my GTI 1500 with the 9.5" coil. For no particular reason I decided to detect the spot marking the intersection of 4 trees and found an ax head, about 8" deep at the intersection point. The ax head was aligned east-west. There was nothing under the ax head. I will return next Sunday with the 12.5" Imaging coil and check the spot, and also following lines leading to and beyond the 4 trees. That ax head, that I would guess has been buried for decades, could be a guide to "something."

Being buried that deep, it was probably left by someone cutting firewoods years ago. If there was a treasure at the end of all the ax heads that I have found in the woods, then I would be a very rich man by now.

You're probably right, but it's within walking distance and will give my 12" coil a workout as I scour the area.
