Is this a repro? It very smooth. The last pic is a closeup of the ridges. Did not see any scrapes or machine marks. Some say it is too thin and the ridges look too weird to be authentic.

Looks fishy to me.

Where did you get it? Did you find it? Buy it? Inherit it? What's its background? More info in that regard will probably help.

The shape is off to me an if it was a hammer stone the thinning size of it I don't believe it would hold up to much use. There is no blade end to be an axe and just from the photo the hammered ends look fresh. It shows a little polish on one part towards the end that makes me wonder if it was a hammer item how did that get a polish.

I concur with the others. I've never seen an axe that thin, with no bit end(s) and that much work put into overall shaping, polishing & grinding (on the hafting groove in particular) for it to be so petite. It does look like the ends are battered from use as a hammer (maybe) although I've never seen a hammer that fancy. I suppose it could be a ceremonial piece or a fancy head-knocker but it has many red flags!

It came from an estate sale and I do not have any background info. I thought it looked unusual and bought it. Thanks for the comments. I suspect it to be a repro.
