Found this at supposed CW river crossing. I don’t know if it’s related. Could been a farmers. It was high on a foothill along with some other various items. I cleaned it up best I could.

Ideally I should do electrolysis but I don’t have that set up, just an ultra sonic cleaner which it helps when I use vinegar in it. I will work on the axe with my drill with wire wheel a little more

Congrats!! I don’t know what others think but it looks wrought.

I've found a lot of ax heads over time but not one like mine. Now I wish I had brought them home as there are ax head collectors.

I’m looking at the very bottom
It’s old, I found along with a late 1800s lock. It’s got a lot of pits from the rust eroding the iron
im looking at the very bottom of the piece and it looks like some layering/grains. If so, from my understanding, it’s most likely wrought iron which qualifies it as very old.

Congrats! Nice find! That one looks like it might have been the work of a blacksmith. I think it’s older than the one I found yesterday 4/02/23.

Very nice find Nathan. Good luck cleaning it up. I hope it comes out well.
