Sorry Garrett, I like your equipment, but when you priced this new machine at $4,000.00 you lost the interest of atleast 70% of the market.... Just to much money for most people in todays market.

Compared with other top of the line gold machines like the Minelab GPX 5000, 6000, and GPZ 7000, it's a relative bargain.

I cant speak for nugget hunting....but for Relic hunting here in Virginia, Garrett, or anyone else for that matter, has yet to make a machine that will compete with the GPX detectors for raw depth in hot soil. Maybe this detector will do it. Before now you either had a GPX or you went the cheaper route with an ATX or TDI.... The civil war trash pits and huts are usually out of reach of anything but the Minelabs. The Style and Waterproof capabilities on the new Garrett are nice if the power/depth are there.

It’s not made overseas it’s made in the USA. $4000 is about right. Machine is designed to compete with minelab which is more money and made in Malaysia.

Who is testing this machine in the desert for gold, and in the red clay of Georgia? I'll believe it when I see it go up against a GPX or GPZ. I'm available to be a tester John.

The problem is, In the PI machine category Garrett has proven itself several times to be unable to compete with the depth and power of the Minelab GPX series. So if this machine is also lacking in power over the Minelab machines, it should not be of that price. Garrett has yet to make a vlf detector to compete with the Equinox... Nokta responded with the legend. XP responded with the Deus 2.... Fisher and Teknetics are basically out of the game. Garrett's closest thing to new vlf is the Apex, which is a entry or mid level detector. I may eat my words if the Axiom proves to truly compete with the GPX.... we'll see!

Even if it comes close, it's price point will make it a popular seller for the hobbyist and professional, especially with it's light weight and ease of use.
