I had to go out this afternoon, after my “morning of nails.” Well, lots more nails and ferrous junk, then this item. Thank goodness for my pin pointer. I dug the hole and got a bunch of tiny, rusted nails. I thought this item was a locust thorn, since I was near several thorny locust trees. The pin pointer kept beeping, so in the bucket it went.
After checking, it is non-ferrous and appears to be white with a tint of gold color, likely aluminum or a tin alloy. I keep seeing the front end of a toy rhinoceros that has been broken, but my imagination is usually suspect. Any ideas?

It may be slag, but looks a lot different than the many others I have found.

I don’t think it’s all slag. The horn seems pretty symmetrical. Interesting for sure.

As long as we are letting our imagination go.....I'm voting Saber-tooth Tiger
