Had to do a few errands today, so I decided to take the long route, and hit up
a few banks for halves. It didnt take long to deplete my cash reserve, as the first
bank I rolled up on had 810.00 in halves !!??! Bought 300.00 worth, and let them
know Id be back for the rest! The nice lady was ecstatic that I was taking all
these off her hands. She was all giggles.
Finds : 40% - 58 90% - 3 ( Walker, 2 Kennedy '64)
61 Keepers, and lots more left of the stash to get.
While bagging the rolls up in my canvas mint bag, she explained that an old fella had brought
all those in, as he had been robbed, and all his posessions were taken. She said he had
collected these for 30 years, and just said "screw it, Im done" after losing all he had. Cashed
them all in, and they all just sat in the vault until today. I may have just scratched the
surface of the collection. Im dreaming of full rolls of Walkers and Barbers waiting for me LOL.
We shall see next week. The tellers had NO clue about any value or worth. They were all giddy
for me, saying " This roll is ALL 1973 with no mintmarks " , she peeked and said, "Yep, no mintmark...
somebody musta screwed up !" I just nodded LOL. She thought they were something special.
Gave me her phone number, and told me to call ahead when I come, she will have them all boxed up
and ready for me. Ching !
(just an addition - I feel bad for the guy this happened to, and am not rejoicing in his losses, but they
are already cashed in, and someone is gonna get them , so it may as well be me
