The summer hiatus from Baltimore City parks ended today.

My first time back since June 29th proved to be another Indian bonanza, Five IHCs (1880 thought 1900).
There were two "jewelry items": and old cufflink and a small brooch with pin missing.

It was quite a day for nickles, 8 in all; this included a V, a Buff, a war nickel, and 5 other Jeffersons.

I'm intrigued by a lead disk found with numbers "129" stamped on it.

Thanks for checking out the pics. Happy Hunting!

Very good day McDig! A whole tribe and a bunch of nickels...digging those mid-tones! My nickel finds have shot up recently...on my quest for gold..lotsa nickels..lotsa slaw..no gold..meh..but it will come, and believe me, I've paid my dues. The lead find, stamped 129..no idea what it is but the script is very old, there is some age to it. Congrats on a successful hunt...ddf

Good job. Your soil is kind to the Indian heads, that's a plus.

A very nice assortment of coins congrats on a good hunt

Incredible hunt... Congrats!

Congratulations on the nickel trifecta, and the Indians.
I see you found a jack or what's left of it.
I've have spent a lot of time in the water this year, but will be getting back to the parks soon. It's been a hot summer.

Nice job on the Indians McCdig. I'm only guessing, but your lead disc could be a tree marker. I know most places use brass tags these days, but maybe way back when they used lead discs. I know where I'm at, the Forest Preserves and parks mark quite a few trees with tags.

You found the tribe. I would love to have a hunt like that great stuff. Thanks for sharing!!!!!

Now that's the McCDig I know. :notworthy: congrats on pulling the fist full of keepers. :occasion14: Man I am due for a day like that.

Thanks L-D! One of the guys from the club showed up after work and within an hour found an 1876 CC Seated dime. A little after that I decided to pack it in for the day and determined to swing while I headed straight for my truck. Little did I know then that I'd hit a 'hot spot' and end up digging three IHCs and a cuff link. This place is amazing.

Sounds like an amazing place that continually gives up the goods.

Thanks Tommy! Definitely good to get back to the Indians. It was pretty cool getting that first one on Thursday, a 1900.

Thanks JJ1965! I started off the day hunting an area that I had hit numerous times before. This time I gridded it off in 15 x 15 foot squares. More to do next time.

Thanks Trezurehunter! That's a good thought on the lead disk. Lead makes sense to me since it wouldn't deteriorate much over time. This park was once known for its trees and landscaping.

Thanks ATW! Glad to hear you've been in the water. To make the leap to water I'd have to get another detector. My Fisher can't get wet.

Very nice coin shoot, congratulations! :occasion14:

Thanks Professor! Target practice included scoring some lovely square nails, too!

Thanks DDF! I'd like to take credit for persevering with the "mid tones", but I set my Fisher to ring high on nickels, so now I'm picking up the ones I left behind.
