As much as I love detecting the Cape Cod beaches and finding multiple vape pens, my favorite spots will always be deep in the woods. Managed to get out and battle some early morning mosquitos at a couple cellar holes this week. Worked slow in the Deus Ultimate program and played around with Gary's Pitch 101 program which I'm still learning. Dug lots of iron and nails, but managed 2 coppers and a half reale at a site I've already spent several hours at. Second reale from this area, and #6 and 7 coppers. Also a twisted piece of decorative sterling, probably from a handle of some sort.

Foliage is at it's peak now, hard to work around all the greenery, looking forward to fall when the ground clears again. Hope everyone is having a good summer,

HH,
Steve

Very nice. I'm growing to be a part of my couch.

Excellent finds Steve! The deep woods cellar holes are the way to go!

Nice group of old coinage.

Congratulations on the great finds. Wish I had a deep woods cellar hole to search. Those coppers are in decent shape, and that silver is especially nice.

Well done, congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Nice coins. If you post better pics of that Ct., cleaned up a little, Obverse and reverse, I'll give it a shot at ID'ing the variety.

Good stuff!! The woods can be hard work. Did you find a map that shows these places?

Congratulations, Steve! I love hunting in woods..my favorite place to be...Often it is gunshot shells and parts of cans I find but an old foundation area might yield something interesting in addition to old nails!

Thanks Hogge, I haven't touched I yet but I will today and post a pic. What resource do you usually turn to for ID? I have the Whitman encyclopedia which seems pretty good? Steve

Hey Tony, I do use a variety of maps to locate these areas, but sometimes, as is the case with these two foundations, I just stumble across them hiking off trail. Lots of leg work but worth it to find untouched spots

That was a great cellar hole hunt, well done!

I hear you on everything in full growth mode, it was hard to navigate the last one I came across.
Spent most of the time on my knees because of low laying cedar branches that wouldn't snap off.
Anything that wanted blood was out in full force as well-looking at me as the next meal.

Nice looking Spanish silver, and other coins.

Use Breens and some online sources. Sometimes it takes a while with Ct.'s.

Gotta love the woods hunts!
