Went back to the bank where i picked up the roll with 19 keepers, got the last 11 rolls they had in vault. All but 2 rolls had check marks on them.got a 64 in one of those 2 rolls and a 67 and a 68 out of the rolls that were marked. Is a small town bank teller told me some guy gets halfs there every now and then.Im wondering if he is only pulling the 90%,if so there are some other local banks he hits that i should try.Well my boxes don't come in till friday so im done till then.

Marked rolls can mean nothing.
Remember that paper rolls can be recycled as well and refilled, So they may have been "cleaned" when deposited, But a customer may have taken 10 or $20 worth lose, or a teller may have, But then deposits come in...where do you put them? hey I have empty rolls. Some of my best scores in hand rolls have been others dump banks because they bring in hand rolled dumps, and dont realize other people may deposit silver at the same bank as there dump. This is why its always good to dump into machines or deposit bags so you can clean though them.

Also just because they have checks it does not always mean its for searching for silver, It could have just been checking to make sure that $10 was in each roll and not short or over.

Can't judge a book by the cover. I had an old looking paper roll in the last bunch I bought which had writing on it. But the writing was so worn I couldn't read it. Now, me, I'm optimistic - I was sure this was gonna be THE roll. Well, it was an entire roll of shiney Bicentennial halfs. I guess when they were issued someone had the idea that eventually they'd be collectible - oh, well. Back to the bank they go.

Plus if you only edge search you are inevitably going to miss some of the 40%ers. Some of them that are worn or dirty look exactly like the edge of a clad. That could be how the 40%ers got into those rolls.

hello,
ok, you guys just described my day on tuesday, stop in a bank while out on the road. ask ffor halves, they have a bunch, 'how much do you want' , check my wallet $900 cash. I had $400-500 of someones dump, but got 2-64's , 10-40%'s and a '76 S. went back wed. for the last $90 nothing. a good day out on the road.
take care
