Back To Ind.-Ohio CW Inf. Camp-3 Eagle Buttons, Bullets, & 4 Knapsack Hooks

Tenn. Josh had other obligations this morning so he couldn't go with Dman and me to the U.S. Infantry camp we have been hunting. However, he did call and get the relic count.
The temp. was in the 30s with a 26 wind chill when we arrived shortly after 8 am. A little cloud spit snow as we took our detectors out of the truck. My first relic was the brass triangle used on a knapsack. Later, I dug a hook for it. Dman hogged all the eagle buttons including the first Eagle "I" Infantry Offiicer's button that any of us have recovered from that 1862 camp. We had a good hunt and Dman found eagle buttons so he bought my lunch today (Attn. Tenn. Josh & Hill Billy). We had a good hunt and hope you do too, Quindy and Doug.

My CW Relic Count for 2012=233 YTD

Nice relics! Some of those bullets look like they may be side cast with the sharp rings, a type we find in CS camps around here. Can you post a close up of one of the ones on the top row, left side, is there a mold mark on the side near the nose and a thick base? Maybe that camp was used by both armies at different times, that is common around here. HH
Here you go MK. These look like the standard U.S. The thick walled CS field cast .58s only show up in CS camps around here. HH, Q.
Yea, your right, I thought it looked more like this one. You have a great site, hope it only gets better. HH

Q ,
Thanks for posting our finds mainly because I am too lazy. I am looking forward to Thursday and will you be able to carry my shovel?

Some terrific snowy finds! Was windy and chilly here today too. I thought for a second we were going to have winter. :tongue3: You all did better than I today. Only one bullet and a lot of exercise!

Congrats!! Nana
One bullet here and there plus exercise are good Nanners!! HH, Q.

Q, I think you guys are going to break the record for CW bullets found in one year! And it's only March! :D Nice finds guys!
So far, so good Rob. I'd like to find a $1 gold love token like you did too though. HH, Q.

Well done, guys! Your display case from this year is becoming quite formidable!

:hello2:

Best Wishes,

Buckles
We are hurrying to beat the high grass, ticks, snakes, and heat like you and Shane BB. Good luck in the bayou Friday, Q.

Congratulations! You gentlemen are killing it!

Please make a "year end" post of all your finds.
Thanks Dwight. Unfortunately, we have individual display boxes site dedicated with gold plaques for each camp we hunt which makes a big year end post unlikely. We'll hit the high spots for you. HH, Quindy.

Only if I get to bury you with it-LOL. We don't find the most or best CW relics but I doubt any other group of hunters has more fun hunting. Q.

Same for me Bird. The best part is actually feeling that lead in a dirt clump I am holding and knowing that I'm the first person to hold it since a real CW soldier dropped or fired it 150 years ago. It didn't come from Ebay, a flea market, or was found by someone else-I dug it!! As you say, it never gets old. HH, Quindy.

Thanks C.B. I keep thinking that we are about done there but we are down to digging "iffy" signals and many of them are relics. For you F75 users, we are digging signals with a solid "12" or higher at 8 in. or deeper and getting a decent yield of CW relics. HH, Quindy.

I really enjoyed lunch Herbie because Dman paid-LOL. We are in for an early Spring and the grass will jump up quick so we must hit our sites while we can. HH and I'd be back under that "Pine Tree" hunting with a flashlight if I was you-that's a killer site, Q.
