When you loose your tackle!

On a bit of a dry spell but I found this in a former park. Can you imagine fishing with this? It's lead and appears to be hand poured in a dirt mold with 20 - 30 lb test line! 4 wheaties (30, 37, 50D, 53D) along with some clad. Makes for 175 wheats for the season to date! Lol...

Good Dirt Fishin to All!!! Jim

I think it’s a duck decoy weight. Keeps the decoys from floating off when out in the water.

I take it, you don't have a big community of Cuban fishermen, in NY?

We see them wrap around lines all the time down here(if that IS what it is, decoy anchor could be too).
I'll try to find you a video.

This is a fancy one, I've seen 'em with fishing line and a piece of cardboard, to wrap it around.

It is curious. Duck decoy weight is possible. But I also know people fish like this! Hmmm.. with mono line it couldn't have been lost to long ago. I have found very old hand made fishing weights.
