Baffling find at early 1800s house site. Although I am confident somebody can ID!!

Found 2 old flat buttons early 1800s and thus item. You can see it has dates on top looks like June and September and 1879 and a date maybe earlier than that? It looks like it was lined with straw unless that got in from field but I didn't see any straw near any other relics and it seems attached inside. Could it be a small urn of some type given it looks like it may have birth date and possibly death date? No clue...

Looks like the top of a road construction torch . . . maybe.

Up for bid is this super nice, never used #1 Bridgeport Brass rectangular burner. It is 1 ¾” tall and the burner opening is 2.5” x 1.5”.


The thumbwheel is stamped “Bridgeport Brass Leader” and also has patent dates on the bottom of the burner;

The burner is in excellent condition (never used) and there are no dents, dings, splits, or breaks.
